How To Get Your Birth Chart For Free

Always wanted your astrology chart (usually known as your birth chart or natal chart) but didn’t know how to get one or didn’t want to fork over the cash? Well, you’re in luck, my friend, because the good folks over at Astrodienst have made getting your birth chart for free super-easy and painless.

How To Get Your Birth Chart For Free

  1. Head on over to Astrodienst, one of my fave astrology sites.
  2. Click on Create a Horoscope Immediately as a Guest User.
  3. Enter your name, preferred gender (all of the gender options will receive the same chart), birthday, time of birth (VERY important if you have it!), country, and town where you were born.
  4. Click continue.
  5. Click Chart drawing, Ascendant under Horoscope Chart Drawings…

…and voilà! You will see your correct and accurate Sun sign (along with the rest of your astro-placements) listed right under your name and birth info. :-)

Note: This will give you your birth chart for free utilizing the Placidus house system. Many, many astrologers (most of them practicing modern psychological astrology, I would guess) use Placidus as their go-to, and it’s the house system that I originally learned astrology with. However, if you’re at all interested in Hellenistic or traditional astrology (including Medieval/Renaissance), then I would suggest generating your chart in the Whole Sign house system. This is the house system I currently use. In my opinion and experience, it makes things just fall into place much more easily during interpretations and makes more logical (and historical) sense. The steps are below.

How To Get Your Birth Chart For Free (Using Whole Sign Houses)

  5. Click Extended Chart Selection under Horoscope Chart Drawings.
  6. Click to open Options for zodiac and houses.
  7. Change the default house system to “whole signs” and leave everything else the same.
  8. Click the button that says Click here to show the chart…

…and voilà! You now have your whole sign houses birth chart.

Or go ahead and do both and compare if you’re so inclined! Some people’s charts (meaning their planetary placements, house-wise) change drastically from one house system to the next; some don’t change much at all. Mine went from having my Mercury and Venus in the 4th (Placidus) to the 5th (Whole Sign houses).

I’d love to hear in the comments if your birth chart changes when you run both charts!
